THE NORWEGIAN OUTDOOR EXPLORATION CENTER
Who we are:
The Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center (NOEC) is a non-profit 501(c)3, outdoor educational organization devoted to interfacing the youth of our community with the natural environment in a positive and inspiring way. NOEC has been serving youth in the outdoors for almost 30 years.
What we do:
Why Norwegian? NOEC introduces a native Norwegian philosophy referred to as friluftsliv. This philosophy is designed to help youth and youth-at-risk to better understand themselves, others, and all of Nature through unique outdoor educational experiences accessible to everyone. Programs run daily, typically from 9am to 2pm, giving students the opportunity to learn and grow in an outdoor classroom.
Who we reach:
NOEC works directly with the schools in Summit County which includes the areas of Park City, Kamas, and Coalville. Typically, NOEC works with youth between the ages of 10 - 18. Youth are either selected by their school counselor for a specific purpose, or are part of a grade-wide year program. If you would like to know how your child can get involved, please contact your school counselor.
